Sun Pictures-produced Sarkar has ended its second weekend on a high note. Despite facing hurdles after the film’s release, the Vijay-starrer is set to enter Rs 225-crore at the worldwide box office.

In the second weekend, Sarkar retained at least 60 percent of the screens from the opening week although four movies were released last weekend. The Vijay-starrer undoubtedly enjoyed highest footfalls among the Tamil movies in Tamil Nadu.

As a result, Sarkar had a successful weekend at the Tamil box office. When it comes to the entire South India, the collections of the Vijay-starrer witnessed a significant drop. The rough estimation coming from the industry says that the flick has minted Rs 153.3 crore at the domestic box office.

Whereas at the overseas box office, Sarkar has performed well in the US, Malaysia, Australia, the the UAE and a few other countries where there is good Tamil population.

The AR Murugadoss’ creation has earned over Rs 72 crore to take its worldwide total tally to Rs 225.3 crore. Meanwhile, the movie is set to breach into $1-million club in the US. Till Saturday, the movie has collected Rs 980K $ in North America.

Sarkar was released in 3400 screens in two languages on 6 November to coincide with the Diwali celebration. The festival weekend and the unnecessary controversy created by the ruling AIADMK helped the movie enjoy good footfalls in theatres.

AR Murugadoss’ film is an action thriller which is about an NRI taking on the TN politicians after someone cast his vote
